As Biden family business ties with China continue to make headlines, the White House continues its lack of transparency.
On Monday, White House Press Secretary Jen Psaki dodged questions on Hunter Biden’s ownership stake in a Chinese investment firm with government connections, saying only that “he has been working to wind that down.”
No word on exactly when that will “wind down” - it's only October.
Shortly after the 2020 election Joe Biden told CNN, “My son, my family, will not be involved in any business, any enterprise that is in conflict with or appears to be a conflict, whether it is appropriate distance from the presidency and government.”
Uh, sure Joe.
Last week, The Washington Examiner reported on Chinese business records that show Hunter Biden appears to hold a 10% equity stake in Bohai Harvest RST (Shanghai) Equity Investment Fund Management.
Biden/China business connections are continuing to make headlines this week. On Thursday, Fox News revealed that Hunter Biden emails show the Biden family working with a member of the Bulger family (yes, of mobster Whitey Bulger fame) to expand business in China while Joe was Vice President of the United States.
President Joe Biden’s brother-in-law, John Owens, reached out to Hunter Biden in 2014 for help in securing a business license to expand his telemedicine company in China, saying it needed to be 'secured very quickly.'
Fox News also notes the urgent message was passed on:
Hunter Biden replied less than a hour later and said, ‘Working on it-back to you ASAP.’ The younger Biden then forwarded Owens’ email to Thornton Group Chairman James Bulger, the nephew of mobster Whitey Bulger, and co-founder of the Thornton Group.
He also sent it to Michael Lin, a member of the Committee of 100, a New York-based advocacy group that has ties to the United Front, an influence operation of the Chinese Communist Party (CCP).
Fox News has more details in an exclusive report.
The Fox article says that Bulger, Lin and Hunter Biden’s lawyer did not respond when contacted for comment on the issue.
Why so silent?
After all, Psaki is the one that referred the media to “talk to his (Hunter’s) representatives” about his business issues.
