Every two years we get a glimpse at a once-great sporting event that appears to have turned into nothing more than a political spectacle put on by globalist elites in recent years. The only people that clamor for the Olympics to grace their countries anymore, besides the majority of athletes who are merely attempting to be the best in their respective sports, are politicians and corporate entities looking to build billions of dollars worth of eventually abandoned infrastructure with the cost being passed on to the local taxpayers. And don’t forget about all that ad revenue and local business profits that get squelched by the media who fear monger about the security of every single iteration of the games.

Rep. Mike Waltz (R-Fla.) introduced a resolution on Monday that calls on the U.S. to boycott the 2022 Winter Olympic Games in Beijing, China.

According to an exclusive report on the resolution by Fox News:

The resolution, first obtained by Fox News, urges the United States Olympic Committee [USOC] to "propose the transfer of the 2022 Winter Olympic Games to a site other than within the People's Republic of China," and if rejected by the International Olympics Committee, that the "United States Olympic Committee and the Olympic Committees of other countries should withdraw from the 2022 Olympic Games.”

The resolution alleges "unprecedented steps" by the Chinese Communist Party in the last year to "extend their repressive policies through censorship, intimidation and the detention of individuals and groups for exercising their fundamental human rights, especially in the Xinjiang Uyghur Autonomous Region and Hong Kong;" mass internment camps, forced labor, and efforts to intensify campaigns that bring religion in China "under closer official control," and to conceal the novel coronavirus.

The resolution states that "the Olympic Games is a celebration of international culture, a festival of humanity and is intended to be independent of political, ideological and diplomatic disagreements.”

The Olympic Games haven’t been “independent of political, ideological and diplomatic disagreements" since the modern Games were brought back in 1896. When have the Games not been politicized to some degree in recent times? Anyone remember the 1936 Games in Germany? Hitler used those Games to brainwash the world by use of propaganda into thinking the Nazi Party wasn't as bad as it actually was. Or how about the 1972 Games in then-West Germany? Eleven Israeli athletes and coaches were killed by Palestinian terrorists. Or maybe the 2004 Games in Greece? The first Olympic Games after the September 11, 2001 terrorist attacks was clouded by media around the world questioning the level of security those Games would have. As a result, the country of Greece lost millions upon millions of dollars because of the media fear mongering that kept people away from that year's Games. Those examples are just off the top of my head, and I could go on, but you get the point.

Whether the U.S. should boycott the Games because it’s in China is a matter of opinion that will be voted on by Congress. But the real question should be whether the U.S. should participate in the Olympic Games, as they’re currently constructed, at all.
