President Trump responded to Fox News’ Shepard Smith announcement that he was leaving the network by mocking his  news ratings on Friday.

“Did I hear Shepard Smith is leaving?” the president asked reporters. “Is he leaving because of bad ratings? Tell me, I don’t know.”

Smith announced Friday that he was moving on from his weekday 3 p.m. show “Shepard Smith Reporting” in an unexpected move at the end of his program.

“Even in our currently polarized nation it’s my hope that the facts will win the day, that the truth will always matter, that journalism and journalists will thrive,” Smith said.

Trump wasn’t too touched by Smith’s heartfelt goodbye and continued to ask the reason for his departure.

“He had terrible ratings,” Trump continued. “Is he leaving because of his ratings? I mean, if he’s leaving I assume he’s leaving because he had bad ratings. He had the worst ratings on Fox.”

As reporters continued to press the president with questions, Trump made one thing clear with how he felt about the former Fox News host.

“I wish Shepard Smith well,” he said.
