Gov't Dept. in Wisconsin Tells Employees to Wear Masks While Inside Their Own Homes...Even When Alone

It’s understandable that in some instances it’s probably wise to wear a mask, depending on which “expert” you believe today. But when government entities begin to dictate that employees must wear masks, even while at home alone, the mask/validity argument begins to take a hit. Why don’t they just say what they really want, which seems to be to have people be subservient to the government’s every whim and demand.

Wisconsin secretary of the Department of Natural Resources Preston Cole reportedly sent out an email nearly two weeks ago that reminded employees that the Wisconsin mask mandate was going into effect on August 1 and that said employees need to wear their masks during Zoom call meetings, even if they’re at home alone.

“Also, wear your mask, even if you are home, to participate in a virtual meeting that involves being seen — such as on Zoom or another video-conferencing platform — by non-DNR staff,” Cole told his employees, according to the Milwaukee Journal Sentinel. “Set the safety example which shows you as a DNR public service employee care about the safety and health of others.”

How do you show that you care about others by wearing a mask when there are no “others” around? This looks to be one of those keeping up appearances edicts, whose real concern is with said appearances and not concern for others.

This is overt virtue signaling. Cole even admits it when he says that by engaging in such a practice that employees will “set the safety example which shows you as a DNR public service employee care about the safety and health of others.” Come on. Cole is aware that the people in this country — for the most part — understand English, right?

The Journal Sentinel also reported on comments from the medical director of infection control at University of Wisconsin Health, Nasia Safdar.

While Safdar acknowledged that employees wearing masks in a Zoom call may set an example, but “in general I would tie mask use to transmission risk, and that doesn’t seem to be a good reason to wear it.”

Safdar also said that it would be “a very terrible thing” if the mask requirement in general, outside of the home, were repealed. So there’s also that.

The edicts that have come from politicians during the pandemic have, in some cases, hurt the populace almost as much as the panic-inducing coverage of the pandemic by the radical media.

Don’t begin letting government entities tell you how to act in your own home. And if you’re told to wear a mask in your home, with there being no chance of catching the virus, don’t do it. It’s a violation of your rights.
