A Monmouth University poll released Thursday found that New Jersey's own Gov. Chris Christie got some favorable reviews from the public in how he handled the Ebola crisis in New Jersey.

In fact, of the 88 percent of those polled who have heard about the issue, only 26 percent of those polled believe that Ebola is a major health issue in New Jersey.

Fifty-three percent of people who responded to the poll think Christie handled the crisis is a positive way. Only 37% voiced confidence in the federal government's handling of Ebola.

Patrick Murray from the Monmouth University Polling Institute thinks Christie's handling of Ebola had something to do with the way people reacted in New Jersey.

“Gov. Christie has made a good read of how uneasy the public is with the seemingly uncertain response from the feds. The Ebola issue has offered him an opportunity to take on the mantle of leadership."

So what's Christie's secret to doing well on this issue?  The poll says it was mostly Christie's decision to quarantine Ebola nurse Kaci Hickox, where 67 percent of people said it was the right thing to do.

Despite Kaci Hickox's pleas to stop mandatory quarantine, 80 percent of the public thinks a mandatory quarantine for patients traveling back from Africa is a good idea.

However, the state of New Jersey is still going to spend money on wages lost because of Ebola quarantines.
