It’s funny how, seemingly, every single time an employee and/or executive from a big tech company comes to Capitol Hill to answer questions from whichever committee wants to talk to them this week, said person either seems like a deer in the headlights or has very little knowledge of anything a member of Congress asks them about.

On Tuesday, it was Google’s Director of User Experience Maggie Stanphill’s turn to shed very little light on questions from a member of Congress.

Sen. Ted Cruz (R-Texas) asked Stanphill about possible bias against conservatives by Google during a hearing held by the Senate Subcommittee on Communications, Technology, Innovation, and the Internet. Cruz’s questions towards Stanphill came in light of the aftermath of a new Project Veritas video containing comments made by both an alleged whistleblower and a Google executive that has since been removed by YouTube.

When asked about the above mentioned video, Stanphill told Cruz of her knowledge that the video exists, but had no idea what the video was about.

“So you didn’t review the report to prepare for this hearing?” Cruz asked Stanphill.

“It’s been a busy day,” Stanphill responded before condescendingly continuing, “and I have a day job, which is digital well-being at Google. So, I’m trying to make sure I keep the trains on the tracks.”

“I’m sorry this hearing is impinging on your day job,” Cruz replied.

“It’s a great opportunity, thank you,” Stanphill said. “I really appreciate it.”

That last response from Stanphill might make one think she doesn’t actually “appreciate” the opportunity.

Judge for yourselves, and watch the exchange between Cruz and Stanphill below:

Wow! Seven minutes of nothing getting answered. Just another day interviewing big tech executives on Capitol Hill.
