“America’s mayor” is joining President Trump’s legal team in an effort to end special council Robert Mueller’s marathon investigation into possible Russian interference in the 2016 presidential election.

Former New York City Mayor Rudy Giuliani doesn’t seem to want to waste any time in bringing the investigation to a close.

“I don’t know yet what’s outstanding,” Giuliani told the New York Post. “But I don’t think it’s going to take more than a week or two to get a resolution.”

According to Fox News:

Giuliani announced Thursday that he would join Jay Sekulow and White House liaison Ty Cobb on Trump's team, amid the probe of Russian meddling and potential collusion with Trump team associates in the 2016 election.

Giuliani was a surrogate for the president during his 2016 presidential campaign. The two have been close friends for years.

Giuliani even spoke of his relationship with Mueller, since Mueller was the director of the FBI when Giuliani was New York City mayor.

“I’ve had a long relationship with Bob Mueller,” Giuliani said. “I have great respect for him. He’s done a good job.”

The news of Giuliani’s addition to the Trump legal team comes just a week after Deputy Attorney General Rod Rosenstein informed Trump that he wasn’t a target in Mueller’s investigation.

Exactly how much longer the Mueller investigation will last is anyone’s guess. But, judging by Giuliani’s comments, the Trump team is looking to wrap the investigation up in short order.
