Getting Your Money's Worth? Michelle Obama Charging Up to $4,200 for Tickets to N.J. 'Moderated Conversation' Tour Stop

If someone spends $4,200 on a ticket for an event, you’d expect the act to be one heck of a stand-up comedian or a classic musical group reuniting for a one-time only concert. You might even expect to pay that much for tickets to a sports playoff game, but you’re still not guaranteed your money's worth. Well, it’s not for any of those things. The for-profit progressive worship business is booming, and former First Lady Michelle Obama is the latest false idol to be gouging people for an event that most likely won’t live up to the hefty price tag.

According to the New York Post, tickets for Obama’s event at the Prudential Center in Newark, N.J., “A Moderated Conversation with Michelle Obama,” were going for as high as $4,200 a ticket for a “suite-level ducat.”

People who know a thing or two about buying tickets to events might expect that tickets of that price level would be available on the secondary market, where sellers can charge whatever they like. But, that price was reportedly on Ticketmaster, the largest ticket seller in the country.

As of this writing, the most expensive ticket currently shown for the event on Ticketmaster is being offered at $2,505 for “Michelle Obama Meet & Greet VIP” tickets.

The “conversation” with Obama will be taking place on November 3rd, but isn’t the only date the former Chicagoan has lined up. Obama has five upcoming dates in Canada, where they appreciate socialism. The highest priced ticket for any one of the events currently available comes in at only $1,500 — and that’s in Canadian dollars, too.

After the conversion into American dollars, you'd have to pay nearly four times that amount to see the former First Lady in Newark, if the New York Post’s reported $4,200 ticket price tag for tickets.

At the same time, if people are willing to pay it, then that's on them. It’s not exactly clear what the point of Obama’s tour is, but it’s still going to cost you big bucks to hear what she has to say.
