After being captured German teenager turned ISIS bride, Linda Wenzel, 16, may still face execution under the judicial process in Iraq, as her home country attempt's to retrieve her.

This scenario became very real when Iraq's prime minister spoke on the likelihood that Wenzel could be executed, saying, "You know teenagers under certain laws, they are accountable for their actions especially if the act is a criminal activity when it amounts to killing innocent people." in an interview with the Associated Press.

According to Al-Abadi, Wenzel is currently being held at a prison in Baghdad after he was captured during the liberation of Mosul in July. The Iraqi PM claimed that her fate would be determined by prosecutors, saying it would be "a case for the courts" to decide whether to enact the death penalty.

Back in Germany Wenzel's father Reiner is becoming very worried about the fate of his daughter. In a statement, Reiner said, "I want so much that my Linda comes home again healthy. I will always be there for her."

The distraught father added: "I fear for her. The authorities absolutely have to bring her to Germany so that she can get a fair trial."

The elder Wenzel claimed that he has not had any contact with Linda since she joined the terror organization but mentioned that he was told that "Linda was not involved in any acts of war."

However, it was reported that Linda was an active member of a brigade that checked women's attire and whipped women who did not abide by the strict clothing guidelines which included a make-up ban and compulsory full-face veil.

Once reports came out about Wenzel's capture, German diplomats started negotiations to bring the teen back where she might only be convicted for up to 10 years for her membership in the terror organization.

Germany is strictly opposed to the death penalty and abolished capital punishment in 1949 in the West and 1987 in the East.

Since the liberation of Mosul, Iraq has carried out several executions of suspects charged with terrorism-linked offenses and in 2016 there had been 88 executions by hanging.
