I don’t think shirts vs. skins was supposed to get this weirdly political.
Last week, gender-fluid model Rain Dove partnered with professional basketball player Crissa Jackson in a video on Instagram to protest the company’s nudity policy. Dove doesn’t identify as a man or woman, but as a gender capitalist--someone who recognizes there are pros and cons associated with each gender.

You can see the entire lengthy caption on the Instagram post, but let me share with you the highlights.
Dove begins her lovely caption with “DEAR INSTAGRAM: THIS ISNT SEXUAL.” Strong start, right? Well, she continues to talk about Jackson’s B-Ball skills saying her “skills on the court are far more worthy of a stare than my swinging sacks of potential food providing flesh.”
She then felt it necessary to make it very clear that she does not identify as a male or female so she isn’t violating any guidelines -- which just isn’t true.
The community guidelines for Instagram currently prohibits posting “photos, videos, and some digitally-created content that show sexual intercourse, genitals, and close-ups of fully-nude buttocks” including “female nipples, but photos of post-mastectomy scarring and women actively breastfeeding are allowed.”
The video is underscored by the song “Swish Swish” by Katy Perry, who has supported the “Free the Nipple” movement for a while. This was a great song choice because Katy Perry is a fantastic role model and has never come off even the slightest bit unhinged.
The video is still posted on her Instagram and currently has 241,058 views and 35,117 "likes."
