French President Emmanuel Macron unveiled the winners of his “Make Our Planet Great Again” initiative to combat supposed man-made climate change, an initiative featuring about 50 projects and a total budget of $70 million from the French government and French research institutes, according to a CNBC report.

The title of the initiative is Macron's obvious attempt to throw shade at President Trump's "Make America Great Again" campaign slogan. Trump announced American withdrawal from the Paris Climate Agreement back in June, which is probably why he was not invited to the upcoming globalist schtick, "One Planet Summit," co-hosted by the United Nations and World Bank.

With about 100 countries expressing interest in the initiatives, Macron selected 18 foreign scientists out of 5,000 applicants. Thirteen of the 18 were U.S.-based researchers.

While the selected foreign scientists see France’s climate initiative as a great opportunity, some French-based researchers argue that Macron’s plan is nothing more than a public-relations scheme to make him look good in front of the international community.

The British scientific journal, Nature, reported that funds for scientific research are scarce in France, especially after the French government cut $3 billion dollars in spending to pay for the new climate initiatives for foreign researchers.

France’s Conference of University Presidents delivered a joint statement noting that they vehemently opposed the cuts to research at home.

“These numbers should make any foreign scientist wonder about the generous invitation of President Macron to relocate to France," said French University of Montpellier biologist and founder of the researcher-led campaign group Sciences en Marche, Patrick Lemaire. Lemaire continued, "The cuts are a warning that the scientific environment they would find in France may be very far from the one they are promised.”
