Fox News issued a statement on Tuesday that “Hannity” host Sean Hannity continues to have its "full support” after it was revealed that he was Trump lawyer Michael Cohen’s “mystery third client.”

The news network said in the statement that it was “unaware of Sean Hannity’s informal relationship with Michael Cohen and was surprised by the announcement in court yesterday” but that they have spoken with Hannity about the matter and stand behind him.

The statement reads,

While Fox News was unaware of Sean Hannity’s informal relationship with Michael Cohen and was surprised by the announcement in court yesterday, we have reviewed the matter and spoken to Sean and he continues to have our full support.

At a hearing in New York on Monday, Hannity was named a client of Cohen, President Donald Trump’s longtime personal lawyer.

The hearing came after the FBI raided Cohen’s office in Manhattan and seized his records as part of a “criminal investigation” of his business dealings.

Hannity denied on Monday that he was a client of Cohen’s, saying that he “never retained him” but “have occasionally had brief discussions with him about legal questions about which I wanted his input and perspective.”

The TV and radio host added that his conversations with Cohen “never involved any matter between me and a third-party” and “dealt almost exclusively about real estate.”

Hannity tweeted Tuesday evening thanking “all my irredeemable deplorable friends on twitter and elsewhere” for their support.
