It looks like there will be a change during Fox News Channel’s primetime lineup.

"The Kelly File" host Megyn Kelly will be leaving the Fox News organization after 12 years of employment. But it’s not the fact that Kelly is leaving that is raising eyebrows.

Kelly confirmed early Tuesday afternoon on her Facebook page that not only will she be leaving Fox News, but that she will also be moving to NBC once the summer arrives and her contract with Fox ends.

There is no word on what -- if any -- slant Kelly will employ during her NBC tenure, but there is news of what Kelly will be doing for the National Broadcasting Company. From the looks of it, Kelly will be a jack-of-all-trades for NBC.

According to the New York Times:

The NBC News chairman, Andrew Lack, wooed Ms. Kelly away from Fox News by offering her a triple role in which she will host her own daytime news and discussion program, anchor an in-depth Sunday night news show and take regular part in the network’s special political programming and other big-event coverage.

“While I will greatly miss my colleagues at Fox,” Kelly said via Facebook, “I am delighted to be joining the NBC News family and taking on a new challenge.”

The Times also reported:

Fox News’s parent company, 21st Century Fox, which is controlled by the family of Rupert Murdoch, had offered Ms. Kelly more than $20 million a year to stay after her current contract expires this year. Rival networks seeking to hire Ms. Kelly away, including NBC News, had made it clear that they could not match that money from Fox, the cable news leader for the last 15 years running.

Ms. Kelly’s contract is not officially up until the summer, and it was unclear whether Fox News would refuse to release her from any contractual commitments that might delay her start at a rival.

There is currently no word on who will replace Kelly in her Fox News Channel timeslot.
