Many on the right who, just a few years ago, were screaming for Trey Gowdy to be the next U.S. Attorney General still aren’t getting their wish. But, Gowdy is going to reportedly join the Trump team, at least for now in this instance.

The former South Carolina congressman will supposedly be joining President Donald Trump’s legal team as it concerns the Democrat-controlled House of Representatives ever-growing impeachment inquiry.

The Associated Press (AP) initially reported the partnership following comments from “an administration official who spoke on condition of anonymity.”

House Speaker Nancy Pelosi (D-Calif.) announced a formal impeachment inquiry on September 24th after Trump’s July phone call with Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky came to light in the media.

The accusation against Trump is that he solicited the aid of a foreign government into possible nefarious business dealings former Vice President Joe Biden and his son Hunter Biden might have had with the Ukrainians.

As for Gowdy, he’s perhaps most well-known for his role as the chairman of the House Oversight Committee, particularly his part in the investigation of possible U.S. government negligence that resulted in the death of four Americans in Benghazi, Libya in 2012.
