Former Republican presidential candidate Herman Cain died on Thursday at the age of 74, according to an article on his website.
“Herman Cain – our boss, our friend, like a father to so many of us – has passed away,” writer Dan Calabrese wrote. “He’s entering the presence of the Savior he’s served as an associate minister at Antioch Baptist Church in Atlanta for, and preparing for his reward.”
The host of The Herman Cain Show died after a reported battle with COVID-19.
Cain was also the former CEO of Godfather’s Pizza and the former National Chairman for the Media Research Center’s Business & Media Institute.
Cain is perhaps most famous for his 2012 presidential run as a candidate vying for the Republican nomination to oppose then-incumbent, former president Barack Obama. In particular, Cain brought about an idea to implement a “9-9-9” tax plan, which sought to replace the tax code with a flat nine percent business transaction tax, a nine percent personal income tax and a nine percent federal sales tax.
According to his website, Cain is survived by his wife Gloria, his children Melanie and Vincent and his grandchildren.
