Fla. Gov. Signs Law Requiring Parental Consent For Minors To Get Abortions

While left-wing talking heads and the liberal media accuse him of not valuing life during the COVID-19 pandemic, Florida Republican Gov. Ron DeSantis just proved them wrong – by signing a bill into law that will require parental consent before allowing a minor to get an abortion.

Not that it will matter to the anti-life abortion lobby and their media backers, but still.

Under previous state law, underage women seeking an abortion were required to notify their parent or guardian at least 48 hours before obtaining the abortion. But the new law, introduced by Republican State Sen. Kelli Stargel and passed by the state legislature earlier this year, bans abortionists from performing the life-ending procedure on underage women without first obtaining a notarized letter from the girl’s parent or guardian OK'ing the procedure.. Any doctor who violates the law, which goes into effect on July 1, can be charged with a third-degree felony.

Minors can petition their local circuit court for a judicial waiver to the rule, delivering a blow to the abortion lobby’s claim that the new law will penalize underage women who are in dangerous or abusive situations.

The law doesn’t address the simple underlying act that abortion victimizes the mother while killing her child, which, in addition to being morally repugnant, runs in full and complete opposition to the 14th Amendment to the U.S. Constitution. But it does score a win for pro-lifers and against abortion giants like Planned Parenthood, which has a long and well-documented track record of preying on vulnerable underage women.
