The government is spending over $400k in taxpayer funding to study how gay people get drunk. Sheesh, at least buy us a drink first.

According to the Free Beacon, the National Institutes of Health wants to know how "whether gender norms of masculinity and femininity lead LGBTQ individuals to drink too much."

The grant for the study says researchers will "examine the extent to which gendered norms shape risky drinking practices for sexual and gender minority (SGM) young adults (18-25)."

So, if I have this correct, the federal government is paying $438,699 to see if our "heteronormative" culture makes gays and lesbians sad enough to have a drinking problem.

The project originally started as a study on the differences in drinking habits between men and women, and has already received over $1.4 million over three years. Now, in order to make the study super-inclusive, the government is giving the Scientific Analysis Corporation $400k more.

But will they have enough wine to go with all that government cheese?
