The Jussie Smollett saga plays a lot like the typical leftist playbook: Claim victimhood, get caught in an alleged scheme after claiming said victimhood, and deflect blame until someone has the good sense to finally say, 'Get all the way the heck outta here with that garbage.'
On Wednesday, U.S. District Court Judge Virginia Kendall ruled that the 37-year-old actor's claim against the city of Chicago and "several" Chicago Police Department officers "cannot go forward now that he’s been re-indicted by a special Cook County grand jury on charges stemming from the same incident," the Chicago Tribune reported.
"While Smollett alleges the statements were unreliable and self-serving," Judge Kendall wrote in her decision, "he ignores that there was additional evidence to corroborate the Osundairo Brothers’ statements, including suspicious texts between the parties and the deposit of a large check to Abel [Osundairo] shortly before the attack."
According to the Tribune, if the criminal case against Smollett were to result in his favor, he would be free to refile his lawsuit.
Smollett originally claimed that he had been the victim of a racist and homophobic January 2019 attack in the business district of Chicago on a below zero temperature early morning while walking back from getting a Subway sandwich. He claimed that the alleged attackers wearing ski masks called him racial and homophobic slurs, threw "an unknown chemical substance" on him and put a noose around his neck. Smollett claimed that the alleged attackers also yelled "This is MAGA country" at him during the attack.
The city of Chicago reportedly spent over $130,000 investigating Smollett's claim of an attack against him.
