It’s taken two years, multiple undercover exposés, a few anti-First Amendment lawsuits and a whole lot of congressional arm-twisting, but the FBI may finally be launching a criminal investigation into abortion giant Planned Parenthood.
Key words here: “may be.” Because apparently, catching multiple Planned Parenthood executives on tape laughing about the illegal sale of body parts harvested from aborted healthy babies isn’t enough to spur an immediate and public look-see.
According to Fox News, the FBI has finally requested the Senate Judiciary Committee turn over un-redacted statements made by Planned Parenthood execs and other abortion industry workers that were collected during a congressional investigation into the industry’s trade in baby organs – an investigation that started back in 2015.
Fox reports the FBI’s request may be “a signal that the feds may be preparing a criminal probe into the sale of fetal tissue.”
Just to clarify: it’s not that killing a baby, harvesting its organs and selling them to science labs is illegal. It’s just that under U.S. law, you can’t make more than a certain amount of money – excuse me, “remuneration” – while doing it. That’s the rub. The FBI's not investigating the killing of the baby or the harvesting of their parts. Just the sale of them. Which, by the way, Planned Parenthood has completely denied doing. (Not the killing, just the selling. They do the killing quite happily, and they're vocal about it.)
It's not that the potential FBI probe isn't a step in the right direction, though. Catherine Glenn Foster, chief executive officer and president of Americans United for Life, told Fox News, “While it has taken over two years for the FBI to show any sign of investigating Planned Parenthood’s role in the harvesting and selling of baby body parts, [we are] encouraged to see signs of an investigation moving forward. There is a great deal of evidence showing the abortion industry has skirted both state and federal laws that serve as the bare-minimum protection for the dignity of human life.”
While the feds were busy twiddling their thumbs trying to figure out if abortionists profiting off infanticide was an issue worth looking into, David Daleiden and the Center for Medial Progress – the ones who caught abortion industry officials bragging about their grotesque Sweeny Todd operation and joking about how they’d all end up with Lamborghinis – were being dragged through the legal mud left, right and sideways for having fake IDs. Because printing up a bogus media credential in order to expose a national human organ mill is a major offense, but dismembering babies and selling off their little eyeballs so you can buy sports cars is shrugs-a-plenty.
It’s good that the FBI “may be” finally looking into this whole gruesome affair. It’s pathetic that it’s taken two years to start the process.
And it’s even worse that it’s the selling of baby body parts, and not the taking of them in the first place, that’s the questionable crime.
