Reporters and “journalists” in the media have largely become nothing more than activists serving an ideology than serving the people who look to them for the news. Yours truly actually has an honors degree in journalism, but you don’t see me calling myself a journalist. Why? Because I have enough integrity to know that inserting commentary into a piece disqualifies you from being considered a true journalist.
Those in the media either don’t understand that. Take NBC News reporter Ben Collins, for instance.
Collins, in a now-deleted tweet, apparently called the Second Amendment rally in Richmond, Virginia a “white nationalist rally” ahead of the event, according to Fox News.
The rally was always presented as a Second Amendment rally and has remained a Second Amendment rally while it’s happening. Even after the rally is over, it will still be a Second Amendment rally.
Here’s what Collins tweeted then cowardly deleted:
Reporters covering tomorrow's white nationalist rally in Virginia, I'm absolutely begging you: Verify information before you send it out tomorrow, even if it's a very sensational rumor you heard from a cop. Don’t become a hero in neo-Nazi propaganda circles with made-up stuff.
Maybe it’s me, but isn’t Collins’ words a little racist towards black people who attended the rally to support their Second Amendment rights? To just blindly assume that all legal gun-toting attendees are white says more about Collins and less about the people at the rally.
Not only that, but was Collins calling all police officers liars as well?
I wonder what it’s like for every word of a tweet to be so wrong that even Collins knew he should probably get rid of it. For him to say that reporting the facts on the ground, even if it comes from cops, would be considered “neo-Nazi propaganda” and “made-up stuff” just shows his lack of acumen when it comes to actual journalism.
Collins predictably tried to backtrack while doubling down on his “white nationalist” narrative:
Collins also posted an article about alleged white supremacists being arrested ahead of the rally that they might’ve attended.
Here’s the thing that Collins and the rest of the far-left don’t understand. Conservatives dislike white supremacists just as much, if not more, than the left does. After all, it wasn’t the right that put black people in chains for years upon years - even after they were freed
