Here’s a story to encourage more disenchanted, alienated, and downright angry conservatives, libertarians, and peace-advocates to make their market activity fit their principles.
Novi, Michigan-based ammunition maker, Fenix Ammunition February 11 announced on its Twitter stream that it is requiring all customers to testify about how they voted. If they voted for Joe Biden, the company is reserving the right to not engage in any transaction.
We've had a few potential customers call this morning to ask why they have to check a box stating they did not vote for Joe Biden in order to purchase our ammunition.— Fenix "Kulak" Ammunition (@FenixAmmunition) February 11, 2021
And their Tweets speak for themselves. First, Fenix posted this:
We've had a few potential customers call this morning to ask why they have to check a box stating they did not vote for Joe Biden in order to purchase our ammunition.
And, yes, if you visit their site, you’ll see the box on-screen.
Then, Fenix posted this:
First question - are we serious? Yes, we are serious. Joe Biden ran on a campaign built on the most radical gun control platform a major party candidate has ever had, including banning the online sale of ammunition. Essentially, a plan to bankrupt our company.
Well said. And Fenix Ammunition was not done.
Second question - couldn't I have voted for him for other reasons? Sure, that's possible, but if you did, you should immediately sell any firearms you own out of solidarity.
And then, Fenix hit on a point many non-collectivists – be they supporters of Trump, libertarians, or voluntaryists – have reached or are reaching: steering market activity away from the collectivists who would harm us and our progeny, and towards more liberty-minded folks.
Third question - are you really willing to walk away from a paying customer simply because they voted for Joe Biden? Yes, yes we are. We're dead serious.
And Fenix added:
We don't want your money, and you shouldn't want us to have it because we're going to use it to make more ammo, sell it to the citizenry, and do everything in our power to prevent Joe Biden's administration from usurping the rights of Americans.
We have no problem talking to Biden voters and educating them on what they did, but they have to be willing to acknowledge their ignorance at the very least. We're not going to sit here and debate with you. We're a 2A company and these are our first principles.
It’s a powerful signal to others.
Sure, the company might not be able to verify what potential customers say. Sure, like many politicians, many Biden supporters seem prepared to lie to others and themselves, so they might simply claim they didn’t vote for Joe.
But Fenix Ammunition is putting people on notice. They honestly do not want the patronage of people who stand for principles that run counter to those embraced by the people who run the company.
In a free world, we could associate or disconnect from people like this at any time.
It’s government – which Biden wants to grow – that forces us to pay for the pet projects and wicked plans of others, destroying the productive capacity of the free market even as it bolsters businesses and plans that cannot claim to be “beneficial” because no one had the freedom to decide that for themselves.
Fenix Ammo gets it, and likely will attract many principled people who get it, as well.
Meanwhile, the military-controlling politicians will demonize guns, and ammo, and people who simply want to be left alone.
