Hilario “Eli” Yanez,” a “Dreamer” who was brought to the U.S. from Mexico as an infant, is calling on Democrats to quit politicizing the debate over the Deferred Action for Childhood Arrivals (DACA) program and work with President Trump on his immigration proposal.

Yanez on “Fox & Friends” Monday morning said that he’s “confused” as to what the Democrats’ message is and “what they believe in.”

He said that it’s time for them to “move on” from the 2016 presidential election and work with Trump on immigration reform.

“Trump won. You know, that’s the reality. I think it’s time to move on,” said Yanez.

"It's not a Republican [issue], it's not a Democrat issue, but it's an American issue," he added.

Yanez praised Trump for “taking leadership” and for being “very compassionate” on the DACA issue.

“The President’s taking leadership on this issue. He’s very compassionate on this issue. He understands it. And he’s taken a lot of courage. I mean, he’s taken fire from the right, conservative part of the party … but he’s willing to work to get something done,” he said.

Yanez also voiced his support for the wall, saying that it would help protect Americans from drugs and terrorism, provide an extra layer of safety for Border Patrol, and possibly “save some lives” in that people might think twice about risking their lives to cross the border.

Last month, the White House issued an immigration framework that would provide 1.8 million illegal immigrants or “Dreamers” who qualify for or receive benefits from DACA a path to citizenship.

The plan also calls for an end to chain migration and the visa lottery programs in addition to funding for a border wall on the U.S.-Mexico border.

President Trump tweeted over the weekend that Democrats are using DACA “as a campaign issue,” meanwhile Republicans want to fix the program for the right reasons.

He tweeted last week that any bill that does not include funding for “STRONG border security and the desperately needed WALL is a total waste of time.”

Congress faces a March 5 deadline to reach an agreement on the DACA program.
