Just when you think things could possibly be taking a turn for the better, the criminals in the city of Chicago prove you wrong over and over and over again. Still, very few care.

At least five people were murdered and another 48 were wounded in shootings across the Chicagoland area over the weekend. This past weekend’s numbers saw 16 more victims than the previous weekend, which saw at least five killed with another 32 people wounded.

Five of those who were wounded were teenagers, as reported by the Chicago Sun-Times.

As for the unfortunate fatalities, here are the names and ages of those who died over the weekend:

Unidentified Male, 21

Unidentified Male, 27

Mieya C. Sims, 25

Tacarrene B. Scott, 37

As for the year-to-date numbers on weekend shooting victims, Chicago is now up to at least 264 people dead and 1,403 people wounded. The Chicago Tribune shooting tracker, which keeps a weekly count of all Chicago shooting victims regardless of the day of the week, reported that 3,304 have been victims of shootings, as of October. That is 1,120 more than the same point in 2019, and the second highest number behind the same point in 2016 (3,316).

It’s not even disputable anymore. This year is one of the most violent in terms of shooting victims in recent memory. Still, very few care.
