“Josh, why did it take the President a couple of days to call Putin to congratulate him?”

That was an actual question from a reporter to deputy Press Secretary Josh Earnest on March 9, 2012. That was the day it was announced that President Obama called Vladimir Putin following the Russian election.

As the press gaggle happened aboard Air Force One that Friday, there is no video – just a transcript available here. There is however, video of the White House Press Briefing that followed on Monday March 12, 2012. Not one reporter asked about Obama’s conversation with Vladimir Putin. Not one.

Compare that by watching Tuesday’s White House Press conference showcasing the Russian frenzy the media has thrown themselves into with President Trump below. Quite a difference.
