Rep. Seth Moulton, one of the lesser known of the current 24 Democratic presidential candidates, purported Thursday that SCOTUS’ decision upholding legal gerrymandering is why former Georgia gubernatorial candidate Stacey Abrams lost her 2018 race.
In a head-scratching tweet, Moulton slammed Thursday’s SCOTUS ruling thatgerrymandering, or the practice of re-drawing voting districts, wasn’t up to federal courts, calling it "absurd and un-American” and comparing it to “modern-day Jim Crow.”
“Just look at what happened with Stacey Abrams last cycle in Georgia,” Moulton said, referencing Abrams’ election loss to Georgia Gov. Brian Kemp – a 50,000-vote loss that Abrams maintains was due to “voter suppression,” and which she’s continually refused to concede.

There’s just one problem: a gubernatorial race can’t be gerrymandered. Because, well, it’s a statewide race, and therefore isn’t dependent on partisan-drawn districts like congressional or state representative elections. Every vote counts the same, regardless of where in the state it was cast.
Continuing in the vein of making no sense, Moulton then went on to call for abolishing the Electoral College -- ironic, considering the Electoral College is the only thing that keeps certain areas of the country from effectively silencing voters in others -- much like the heavily partisan gerrymandering practices Moulton claims to abhor.
