Senate Minority Leader Harry Reid (D-Nev.) is “an absolutely poisonous figure” and “a lot of the dysfunction in Washington can be traced directly to his doorstep,” said former White House press secretary Dana Perino – and it’s not the first time she’s publicly called Reid “poisonous,” either.

Reid’s “been a disaster for this country” and is a “destructive entity," the Fox news host said on the Hugh Hewitt radio show.

Host Hewitt quoted Reid praising Jeb Bush and snarking at his brother, Perino's former boss George W. Bush: “Yesterday … I read a story that had this in it, ‘No wonder Jeb Bush stood up for Loretta Lynch in New Hampshire. Bush didn’t just show grace in doing that, he showed more common sense than his brother did in eight years as president of the United States.’ There’s Harry Reid – he can’t just give a compliment, can he?”

“He’s an absolutely poisonous figure in Washington, D.C. He’s been a disaster for this country,” Perino replied.

“I think a lot of the dysfunction in Washington can be traced directly to his doorstep,” she said. “I think it is very good for the country, for the world, and especially for the Democrats that Harry Reid is retiring. I’ve never seen anything so abhorrent in my life as Harry Reid.”

Perino continued:  “And he is an equal opportunity basher, right? He goes after everybody. I think it is so frankly disgusting, and I’m a pretty level-headed person. But that person, Harry Reid, has been the most destructive entity in Washington when it comes to stability – by far.”
