Conservative Beauty Queen Stripped of Title Over 'Insensitive' Tweets

A President Trump-supporting beauty queen has seen the darker side of being involved with an organization that doesn’t believe in expressing conservative thought.

Kathy Zhu, winner of Miss Michigan 2019 who is studying Political Science at the University of Michigan, says Miss World America (MWA) stripped her of her newly acquired title after they discovered some “insensitive” social media posts on her Twitter account.

“Miss World America's State/National/Chief Director accused me of being racist, Islamaphobic, and insensitive,” Zhu posted on Twitter. “They stripped me of my Miss Michigan title due to my refusal to try on a hijab in 2018, my tweet about black on black gun violence, and 'insensitive' statistical tweets."

In an email (and via text), the left-leaning organization claimed Zhu was in violation of MWA’s Rules and Conditions, “specifically the contestant requirement of ‘being of good character and whose background is not likely to bring into disrepute Miss World America or any person associated with the organization.’”

Text messages reveal the conversation between Zhu and Miss World America state director Laurie DeJack, which seem to show DeJack repeatedly tell Zhu they have a “huge issue” and claim she misled the organization in how she initially presented herself to them.

In response to their bias and shameful approach to the situation, Zhu let her feelings be known:

“Do you know what is 'insensitive?'” Zhu asked in an email. “What’s ‘insensitive’ is that women in the middle east are getting STONED TO DEATH for refusing to obey their husband’s orders to wear hijabs. A muslim woman tried to FORCIBLY put a hijab on my head without my permission. I tweeted about it on my social media, and it got the attention of the media." 

"Are the people of MWA implying that they advocate for the punishment of women who refuse to wear a hijab?” Zhu asked.

“I suggest you all fully review what you stand for and condemn,” she continued. “Statistics and facts are not always pleasant. It’s disgusting how you would rather lie to the public’s face than be supportive of someone that is trying to make a difference about subjects that no one dares to say.”

Zhu finished the conversation by letting MWA know she wouldn’t conform to their low-level standards of being an empty-headed robot parroting whatever her masters programmed her to.

“I am sure you will love to find a ‘woman’ who is cookie cutter perfect and says brainless comments like, ‘I love world peace.’”
