If you own a sporting goods store, odds are that you stock a fair amount of Nike products on your shelves. With Nike’s recent ad campaign including unemployed quarterback Colin Kaepernick, the question for store owners that disagree with the campaign becomes whether you want to continue to sell said Nike products.

One sporting goods store owner in Colorado disagrees so much that he’s offering the remaining Nike products in his store at a steep discount in order to liquidate the merchandise. It’s a big gamble for store owner Stephen Martin considering “a large part of his inventory” are NFL jerseys, which of course are all made by Nike.

The sign on his storefront reads: “STILL CHOOSING TO STAND. ALL NIKE 1/2 PRICE. “JUST DOING IT.”

According to KRDO:

Martin sent a strongly worded letter to Nike in response to the company's decision to use Kaepernick in the ad. Martin calls the company "the mother of all harlots" for their ad campaign, calling into question their use of the phrase "sacrificed everything.”

"According to me, he has sacrificed a salary," Martin posted in a note on the window of Prime Time Sports. The note is surrounded by pictures of fallen service members. "Nothing compared to what every soul on our 'Honor the Flag' memorial wall that was built a few years ago has suffered and died for.”

In all fairness, Kaepernick merely sacrificed his NFL salary for multiple other salaries, including a book deal and the contract with Nike. Kaepernick had his chances to continue to play in the NFL, but self-sabotage and a racist girlfriend dashed any of those dreams.

In order to “sacrifice everything,” Kaepernick would conceivably have to put his life on the line — you know, like real heroes who sacrifice themselves — for whatever his cause is this week.
