Maybe it was the weather? Shootings in Chicago tend to take a dip in the winter months when it's frigid winters begin. However, that doesn't mean people in the Windy City are completely safe, as evidenced by the 7-year-old little girl who was shot while trick-or-treating last week. While it might be too much to ask for the shootings to totally stop, at least the cold weather brought the numbers down.

At least 15 people in total were shot over the weekend across the Chicagoland area, four of which unfortunately died as a result of their wounds. The trend seems to be following the drop in temperature as at least 24 people were shot the previous weekend and 35 more were shot two weekends ago.

Here's an example of this past weekend's violence, according to the Chicago Sun-Times:

Earlier that day [Saturday, November 2], a 27-year-old man died after he was shot while driving in Brainerd on the South Side.

About 2:45 p.m, he was driving south in the 9100 block of South Aberdeen Street when he heard gunshots and was struck in his back and right leg, police and the medical examiner’s office said. He got into a different vehicle and was taken to Little Company of Mary Hospital in Evergreen Park, where he was pronounced dead. He has not yet been identified.

In MRCTV's running tally of people who've been shot on weekends in Chicago, at least 872 people have been shot since Memorial Day weekend. Sadly, at least 127 of those people died from being shot.

The numbers haven't quite been updated yet, but the Chicago Tribune has kept shooting victim numbers for the enitrety of 2019. As of October 27, 2,313 people have been shot in the city of Chicago this year.

There's still two months left. Let's hope the cold helps these numbers stay down.
