New York Mayor Bill de Blasio’s gubernatorial aspirations may have hit a snag over the weekend as people took to the streets to protest his most recent vaccine mandates.
Nearly two weeks ago, de Blasio announced a proof of vaccination requirement for most indoor settings — including “for workers and customers in indoor dining, in indoor fitness facilities, indoor entertainment facilities.”
Some people showed up in front of Gracie Mansion in Manhattan on Sunday to voice their displeasure with de Blasio and his mandates, according to SILive.com.
President of the New York Young Republicans Club Gavin Wax, City Councilman Joseph Borelli (R-South Shore) and Guardian Angels founder Curtis Sliwa — who is apparently running for mayor of New York City — were some of the more “high profile” names in attendance. Wax reportedly was one of the main organizers of the event.
For his part, Borelli spoke about the division within the city as a result of the never-ending mandates.
“Now we have a city where there are two classes of people. There are people who made the choice to get the vaccine — great. There are people who made the choice to not get the vaccine — great,” Borelli said. “The era of collective sacrifice is over. The era of individual, personal responsibility on COVID is here.”
People simply aren’t buying the draconian measures anymore.
