This past weekend was half the length of the previous, extended Thanksgiving weekend, but that didn’t make much of a difference in how many people were shot in the city of Chicago.

At least five people were killed and another 34 were wounded in shootings across the Chicagoland area over the weekend. During the previous Thanksgiving weekend, at least 11 people were murdered and another 31 were wounded.

Here are the names and ages of those who lost their lives over the weekend, according to the Chicago Sun-Times:

Elbert Craig, 34

Roderick James Jr., 18

Adan Delgado, 27

Tevin Winford, 28

Enrique Sanchez, 53

The year-to-date numbers on weekend shooting victims in Chicago is now up to at least 312 people dead and 1,638 people wounded. The Chicago Tribune shooting tracker, which keeps a weekly count of all Chicago shooting victims regardless of the day of the week, reported that 3,862 people have been victims of shootings. That is 1,335 more than at the same point in 2019, and the second highest number behind the same point in 2016 (4,087).
