There’s no other way to say it. Chicago Mayor Lori Lightfoot seems to be incompetent. Just last week, the city of Chicago announced that “mental health professionals” will be dispatched to respond to certain 911 calls instead of police. That’s how Lightfoot and the rest of the defund the police brigade believe will help crime decrease in the city.

Meanwhile, at least 10 people were shot and killed over the weekend and another 50 were wounded across the Chicagoland area. This past weekend’s numbers are up compared to the previous weekend, which saw at least 13 people murdered and another 33 wounded.

By the way, six of the wounded over the weekend were children 15 years of age and younger, according to the Chicago Sun-Times.

Here’s a list of the names and ages of those who lost their lives this past weekend, also according to the Sun-Times (Note: There is little information on the majority of the victims):

As for the year-to-date totals for Chicago weekend shootings, 171 people have been murdered and another 934 have been wounded in Chicago in 2021. The Chicago Tribune, which keeps a tracker of all shooting victims in Chicago, hasn’t updated their numbers but reported that — as of July 7 — 2,021 people have been shot this year. That number is 164 more than at the same point in 2020, which saw the second most shooting victims in the last 10 years of tracking data.
