As the country continues to struggle under mass economic devastation and a patchwork of halting tactics to reopen shuttered businesses, CBS News & CBS This Morning correspondent Vladimir Duthiers is upset that President Trump hasn’t yet held an official moment of silence for COVID-19 victims.
Because that’s what’s important in this moment.
Speaking on CBS Thursday morning, Duthiers alleged that Trump hasn’t been taking the coronavirus pandemic seriously enough, quoting the president as saying the loss of life “could have been worse” (which, given early estimates that predicted up to 2.2 million Americans would die from the disease, seems plausible) and complaining that as COVID-19 deaths top 100,000, Trump has penciled “no commemoration, no moment of silence, no collective sharing of the grief” into his official schedule.

Of course, if Trump had held a moment of silence for COVID-19 victims, the media would likely be complaining that it wasn’t long enough.
