With things in the media and social media becoming less and less on the up-and-up and more and more about proving some kind of point to feel better about themselves politically, remember that things are not always as they may seem.

You might remember the video of men scaling newly constructed border wall that went viral last week.

Take a look:

One thing that people should note about the video above is U.S. Customs and Border Protection (CBP) rolling up after the first person got over the wall. The other two persons gave up once they saw CBP.

As you can see, and as of this writing, that video has over 8.4 million views on Twitter alone.

But, that’s not the entire story.

In response to the viral video, CBP came out with a little Twitter video of their own explaining the reality of the situation people originally only got to see a short portion of. The video shows a CBP agent explaining how the wall works and is not the only line of defense against people illegally crossing into the U.S.

You can watch the CBP video below:

While the agent in the video clearly explained the entire situation, he made one thing very clear.

“Crossing illegally into the United States is a federal crime,” the agent said. “Those who violate the law will be held accountable, and there are consequences to these actions.”

You don’t have to worry about being deported if you don’t break federal immigration law. Simple.
