CBP: 325 Central Americans Caught Illegally Crossing U.S./Mexico Border

“Walls don’t work!” “There’s no proof that walls work.”

We’ve all heard statements like this from people who advocate for the degradation the United States’ national security. This is just another example of why the U.S. might just need a wall.

U.S. Customs and Border Protection (CBP) say that a group of 325 Central Americans were taken into custody after illegally crossing the border from Mexico into the U.S.

According to CBP's website:

A U.S. Customs and Border Protection Air and Marine Operations helicopter, investigating a possible campfire spotted by a surveillance camera, discovered the group amid freezing temperatures. The group illegally entered the country through an area where there is only a vehicle barrier designed to prevent crossings.

Group members indicated that buses and trucks dropped them off throughout the night on Mexico’s Federal Highway 2 that parallels the U.S. border less than 50 yards from this area. Once the entire group arrived, they crossed together at 8:00 a.m. to await authorities.

The group consisted of individuals and family units from Central America and included nearly 150 juveniles, 32 of whom were unaccompanied.

Thirty-two unaccompanied minors. Those poor kids couldn’t be separated from their parents, because their parents already separated themselves from the situation.

President Trump spoke about the horrible practice of human and sex trafficking during the State of the Union (SOTU) this past Tuesday.

“Smugglers use migrant children as human pawns to exploit our laws and gain access to our country,” Trump said. “Human traffickers and sex traffickers take advantage of the wide-open areas between our ports of entry to smuggle thousands of young girls and women into the United States and to sell them into prostitution and modern-day slavery.”

There’s no way to know for sure why those 32 children were unaccompanied now that they’re in CBP custody. But, it’s certainly better than them possibly being sold into some kind of slave trade.

CBP also noted that two of the children that illegally crossed the border were hospitalized for “possible chicken pox” and a “skin infection.”

"Illicit transnational criminal organizations exploit the vulnerability of foreign nationals with false promises of legal status and encourage dangerous border crossings, placing lives at risk," the CBP news release read.

Trump looks to be correct in his assessment during the SOTU when he said that "illegal immigration is not compassionate; it is actually very cruel."
