And once again, the left is devouring their own, proving that no matter how “woke” you try to be, your eyes will never be open enough for the lynch mob.
Actress Eva Longoria, herself an outspoken liberal and a Biden/Harris supporter, is now apologizing after making comments in favor of Latina women who voted Democrat in this year’s presidential election – because apparently, calling attention to Hispanic vote somehow diminishes the votes of Black women.
“The women of color showed up in big ways,” Longoria said in a post-Election Day interview on MSNBC. “Of course you saw in Georgia what Black women have done, but Latina women were the real heroines here, beating men in turnout in every state, and voting for Biden-Harris at an average rate of close to 3-to-1.”
Eva Longoria under fire after her interview with @MSNBC about Biden’s victory:

Sailing right past the notion that Longoria, an actress, was being interviewed as a credible voice to analyze a national presidential election on a “news” program, it turns out the Black community was highly insulted that the Latina celeb would highlight Latina vote and suggest it was somehow more important or notable than the Biden-heavy votes cast by Black women. And the backlash on Twitter was heavy.
Eva Longoria and Gina Rodriguez have actually done us a favour here, in showing why “People Of Colour” never benefits Black people. Some minorities will undermine Black achievements whenever they get the chance to do so and sideline us, never show up then have the most to say.

If Eva Longoria's interview was about the latino vote, WHY TF she had to bring up black women, mfs cant do shit without bringing up black women

Latinas defending Eva Longoria... We have to face the anti-blackness & erasure of Afro-Latinas in our culture. We don’t have to diminish the accomplishments of Black women to elevate ourselves. It’s another form of white supremacy.

Eva Longoria just said on MSNBC “I mean you saw what Black women did in Georgia but Latinas are the REAL heroines of all of this.” But why? What’s the point of that? @EvaLongoria

And while she didn’t call out Longoria by name, even Sen. Kamala Harris, Biden’s running mate, posted what seemed like a response to the controversy, pointedly thanking “Black women” for their support and telling them they are “too often overlooked.”
I want to speak directly to the Black women in our country. Thank you. You are too often overlooked, and yet are asked time and again to step up and be the backbone of our democracy. We could not have done this without you.

Naturally, some Latinas on Twitter then took issue with the fact that Black people had taken issue with Longoria's statement, and around and around the Identity Politics bush they went.
After recognizing she’d stepped on yet another left-wing third rail, Longoria rushed to “clarify” her statement, insisting she never meant to diminish the Black community or their votes. “Watching this back I can see that this sounds like I’m comparing Latinas to Black women, which I would never do,” Longoria wrote Sunday on Instagram.
“I was comparing Latinas to their male counterparts, but my wording was not clear and I deeply regret that. Black women have long been the backbone of the Democratic Party, something we have seen played out in this election as well as previous ones. Black women deserve a standing ovation for the work they have done year after year!! ... Again, so sorry for the confusion and lack of context on my part.”
Best of luck in your apology tour, Eva. Cancel culture comes for all.
