Peter Strzok Fired From FBI

FBI agent Peter Strzok has been fired by the bureau following investigations into his anti-Trump texts while in the FBI, Strzok’s lawyer Aitan Goelman said Monday morning.

Goleman said FBI Deputy Director David Bowdich fired Strzok on Friday, which overrules the FBI’s previous decision to suspend him for 60 days. Despite Strzok’s leaked anti-Trump text messages, Goleman claims the FBI has no legitimate evidence of bias within his client’s work.

"This decision should be deeply troubling to all Americans. A lengthy investigation and multiple rounds of Congressional testimony failed to produce a shred of evidence that Special Agent Strzok's personal views ever affected his work," Goelman stated.

"In fact, in his decades of service, Special Agent Strzok has proved himself to be one of the country's top counterintelligence officers, leading to only one conclusion — the decision to terminate was taken in response to political pressure, and to punish Special Agent Strzok for political speech protected by the First Amendment, not on a fair and independent examination of the facts," he continued.

Strzok came under fire after his text messages with his fellow FBI official and then lover Lisa Page were leaked.

"[Trump’s] not ever going to become president, right? Right?!” Page texted Strzok.

“No. No he won’t. We’ll stop it,” Strzok replied.

Strzok testified to Congress last month, where he emphasized his claim that the leaked texts are not proof of bias in his work for the FBI.

"Not once in my 26 years of defending my nation did my personal opinions impact any official action I took," he said.

Strzok previously worked on the Hillary Clinton email investigation and the special counsel for Robert Mueller’s Russia probe, but was moved to human resources after his texts messages with Page were revealed.
