Formal charges have been filed on the police officer who fatally shot 32-year-old Philando Castile in Falcon Heights, Minn. on July 6 of this year.

St. Anthony, Minn. police officer, Jeronimo Yanez, has been charged with second-degree manslaughter in the shooting of Castile.

Yanez shot Castile, who was reaching for his wallet after he had told Yanez that he was armed and had a permit for the firearm.

According to ABC News:

Family members claim Castile was racially profiled. Yanez's attorney has said the officer made the stop because Castile looked like a possible match for an armed robbery suspect, and Yanez reacted to the presence of a gun.

More news will be coming when the trial of Yanez begins.
