Wow! You don’t hear stories like this come out of Hollywood every day. One actress is leaving the comfort of the Hollywood bubble for the training grounds of the Army’s Officer Candidate School.

Carly Schroeder, an actress known for her role on Disney’s “Lizzie McGuire” among others, told TMZ on Wednesday that she will be joining the Army. The 28-year-old Schroeder said that she has family in the military, so this decision has been weighing on her mind for a while.

“I’ve been considering it for a while and it is a big choice, but thankfully my parents and my little brother were very supportive of me,” Carly Schroeder said. “My dad was actually in the Army, he was a Green Beret medic, and my little brother Hunter, he’s in the Marines now.”

Schroeder’s motivation for joining the Army goes beyond her sense of duty to her country. She’s also interested in helping curb the worldwide crisis of human trafficking.

“But on a more tangible micro level, there is human trafficking occurring within the United States,” Schroeder wrote in an Instagram post. “I’ve written papers, spread awareness and as an Army Officer I intend to learn skills I can later apply when I’m on a team helping these victims.”

There’s something to be said for someone who walks away, at least temporarily, from the luxuries afforded to people in La-La-Land in exchange for combat fatigues.

Here is some of Schroeder's training that she's filmed and posted to Instagram:
