Brady Fails As Comedian At White House, Slaps Down Trump & Republicans

Tom Brady may be a Super Bowl champion, but he’s barely practice player level when it comes to politics and humor. During a White House reception for the champion Tampa Bay Buccaneers Tuesday, he insulted people who question the integrity of the 2020 election.

Brady and his teammates met with President Joe Biden, and he tried his hand at humor – quite unsuccessfully. The most decorated quarterback in National Football League history claimed that some people don’t believe his team won the Super Bowl this past season. That’s certainly news to the rest of the world.

Then he attempted to compare this bizarre claim to the fact that many Americans do not believe the last presidential election was fair or just.:

“When we found our rhythm, we got on a roll. Not a lot of people thought that we could have won, and the fact is about 40 percent of people still don’t think that we won. Do you understand that Mr. President?”

"I understand," President Biden responded to crowd laughter.

Brady, who skipped the New England Patriots’ last visit to the White House, in 2017, to celebrate with President Donald Trump, was all smiles as he said this. Where did he get the 40 percent figure? Apparently out of thin air because millions of people watched the Bucs destroy Kansas City 31-9 in the 2021 Super Bowl rout. Where are the stories about people claiming Tampa Bay did not win the game? They don’t exist – except in the now fertile political mind of Brady.

James Dator, an SBNation sports writer, thought Brady was oh so hilarious, writing:

“A laughing Brady was clearly referencing the 2020 presidential election, in which 53 percent of Republicans asked in a Reuters/Ipsos poll still believe Trump is the president, despite losing the electoral college, and popular votes in an election which has been scrutinized, and verified as being completely accurate.”

The left-stream media’s election narrative aside, Dator was right about one thing. It’s that this comment represented a “remarkable shift for Brady, who typically aims to be as apolitical as possible, choosing to not rock the boat, rather than making his feelings known.”

Years ago when Trump was running for president, Brady displayed a “Make America Great Again” hat in his Patriots locker space. The left-tilting media made much of it and marginalized Brady for identifying with a Republican.

Brady tried to sidestep media criticism and said the hat was merely a “gift from a friend.” Not any kind of political statement.

Some have suggested Brady was taking a shot at Biden, that he's still pals with Trump. But People magazine said Brady "grew uncomfortable with the way their relationship was scrutinized. Brady told Howard Stern, "It was uncomfortable for me because you can't undo things, not that I would undo a friendship, but political support is a lot different than the support of a friend."

The former New England quarterback wanted no part of the team’s next visit to the White House when it was occupied by Trump. Now he’s Mr. Politics at the Biden White House and the Trump friendship appears to be a thing of the past.
