U.S. border agents rescued a 6-month-old baby girl from drowning in the Rio Grande after smugglers assaulted the child’s mother and dumped the baby into the river in the middle of the night.

This story brought to you by the Biden administration and the stupid, no-sense-at-all policies that are inviting this crap.

According to border officials, the little girl had been tossed out of the inflatable raft smugglers were using to ferry illegal aliens to the U.S. side of the river, where they’re dumped and must clamor up the middy bank to safety. Her mother had reportedly paid the traffickers $3,500 to transport her and her child to the U.S. She was assaulted somewhere during the process and wound up with a broken leg.

The horrifying incident – which came close to being a true tragedy but for the border agents who intervened – comes amid a massive surge of illegal aliens at the Southwest U.S. border. More than 1 million illegal aliens – including some 184,000 unaccompanied children – are expected to cross the border unlawfully this year alone, marking a 20-year high. Border patrol estimates that on top of those who are apprehended, roughly 1,000 illegal aliens, including dangerous criminals and drug smugglers, are entering the U.S. undeterred each day as border agents scramble to take care of the children, teens and families overwhelming border facilities.

The policy-driven crisis, which the Biden administration continually refuses to label as such, leaves families and children particularly vulnerable to cruelty, rape and abuse by smugglers who’ve long proven their disregard for human life. Another video captured by a border patrol camera earlier this month shows smugglers dropping a 3-year-old toddler and a 5-year-old child over a 14-foot-tall border fence and abandoning them in the New Mexico desert in the middle of the night. Thankfully, both children were found by Border Patrol and taken to a nearby hospital for an evaluation.

Both children, as well as the mother and baby who were dumped in the river, are reported to be in good health – mom’s broken leg notwithstanding.
