Blundering NFL Cancels Unvaccinated Singer’s National Anthem Appearance

Grammy Award winner Victory Boyd will not sing the national anthem at tonight’s NFL season opener in Tampa. The NFL spoilsports canceled her appearance because she is not vaccinated against COVID-19.

NFL senior director for Media and Entertainment Events Seth Dudowsky ruled Boyd ineligible with this announcement.:

“As I understand that Victory will not be fully vaccinated by the time of the Kickoff game, she would not have been able to comply with the terms of the Game Day Field Access Policy. And as a result, we, unfortunately, will not be able to invite Victoria to perform the national anthem at this year’s Kickoff game.”

In an email, Dudowsky stressed NFL policy requiring that all “individuals accessing the playing field and surrounding sideline areas” be fully vaccinated:

“Under the Policy, ‘fully vaccinated’ means 14 days have passed since the individual received the final dose required in the vaccine sequence, in accordance with guidance from the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention. This requirement is mandatory and fully complies with the laws applicable to the type of business relationship contemplated here, and we are not in a position to make an exception.”

Boyd will lose out on the $20,000 she would have earned by singing the Star-Spangled Banner prior to the start of the Cowboys-Bucs game. Winner of a Grammy for her singing on Kanye West’s album “Jesus is King,” Boyd told The Epoch Times that she is attempting to discern whether or not to get vaccine shots for COVID-19. She said she feels alarmed to be the victim of the NFL's "discriminatory policy that had nothing to do with my talent" and it "made me feel alarmed because of what it implies for not only myself but millions of others."

Additionally, Boyd remarked:

“I am in prayer to make sure that the Lord guides me into the right decision concerning receiving an unproven injection with artificial properties that can potentially have a long-term effect on my reproductive health.

“If I want to take the vaccine, the decision will be between myself, my doctor and my God. At this point, the Spirit of God is leading me to take a stand for freedom of choice.”

Since the NFL canceled Boyd’s performance, here she is performing the anthem on Youtube, for your enjoyment.

People putting principle over money deserve the highest level of respect. The NFL, on the other hand, fired yet another shot into its bullet-riddled foot. This hypocritic outfit does not mandate that its players be vaccinated, but it is denying a healthy, unvaccinated singer two minutes on a field to sing the national anthem. Shame on the NFL.

While on the topic of the NFL committing stupid blunder after stupid blunder, the league was non-committal Wednesday on whether or not it would honor the 13 American soldiers killed in Kabul, during tonight’s season opener. That decision should be a no-brainer, but commonsense is not part of the woke league’s DNA.
