Apparently, criticizing a black woman for urging her supporters to publicly harass political opponents at restaurants and grocery stores is racist.

Or, so says a group of black progressive women (and a couple men) who're now accusing House Minority Leader Nancy Pelosi of “disparaging” black women.

The whole thing started when Pelosi, along with Senate Minority Leader Chuck Schumer and others, dared to criticize Waters for encouraging people to accost Trump administration officials whenver they’re seen out in public.

"Let's make sure we show up wherever we have to show up. And if you see anybody from that Cabinet in a restaurant, in a department store, at a gasoline station, you get out and you create a crowd. And you push back on them. And you tell them they're not welcome anymore, anywhere,” the Democratic congresswoman famously ranted during a small rally in L.A. a couple weeks ago.

In response, Pelosi called Waters’ remarks “unacceptable” in a backhanded tweet that placed the blame on Trump’s own “lack of civility.”

Schumer chimed in by saying, "That's not right. That's not American," from the floor of Congress in reference to Waters’ comments.

And apparently, this makes Pelosi and Schumer a couple of racists who hate all black women. In an open letter sent Tuesday, about 200 black leaders – most of them female activists, religious leaders, academics, local elected officials, according to ABC – accused Democratic leaders of “disparaging” all black women and demanding they apologize to Waters for daring to oppose her on…well, anything.

“Disparaging or failing to support Congresswoman Waters is an affront to her and Black women across the country and telegraphs a message that the Democratic Party can ill afford: that it does not respect Black women’s leadership and political power and discounts the impact of Black women and millennial voters,” the women wrote.

Now, it’s not very often I come to the defense of Nancy Pelosi and Chuck Schumer. In fact, even as I write this, I’m half expecting a singing pig with wings to come busting out of some nearby closet and delivery us a memo from hell saying the whole place is under a blizzard warning.

But in all seriousness, on what planet is it unacceptable to criticize a black person for calling for the open harassment – and, since we’re all smart enough to know how harassment often ends, assault – of administration officials in public spaces, simply because she’s black?

That’d be whatever planet liberals come from, I suppose. Because it sure isn’t this one.
