After much intense debate, it would seem that a bipartisan economic aid deal has been reached. So, we can now watch Speaker of the House Nancy Pelosi try to take as much credit as she can.

Senate Majority Leader Mitch McConell tweeted Tuesday morning that negotiations in the Senate were most likely at an end, and a bipartisan deal had been reached.

“At last we have a deal,” wrote the senator. “After days of intense discussions, the Senate has reached a bipartisan agreement on a historic relief package for this pandemic. We’re going to pass this legislation later today.”

Nancy Pelosi has released a statement in which she seems to be trying to take as much credit for the part that Senate and House Democrats played in the matter as possible and promote legislation of her own making, claiming “The Republican bill proposed by Senator McConnell on Sunday was a non-starter.”

Pelosi went on to say that the new bipartisan deal was better for the American people as a whole, not just major corporations, although it was still not as good as the measure proposed by herself and other Democrats.

“This bipartisan legislation takes us a long way down the road in meeting the needs of the American people. While the compromise does not go as far as our Take Responsibility For Workers and Families Act, thanks to the unity and insistence of Senate and House Democrats, the bill has moved a great deal closer to America’s workers.”
