In a interview on NBC's Today show Monday, former President Bill Clinton said a private apology to his former intern, Monica Lewinsky, is not necessary.

“I have never talked to her,” Mr. Clinton said in his interview with Craig Melvin. “But I did say publicly on more than one occasion, that I was sorry. That’s very different. The apology was public.”

As the interview went on, which was intended to promote his newest book with James Patterson, Clinton appeared increasingly displeased with Melvin's questions on the Lewinsky scandal.

“Do you view [the Lewinsky affair] differently or feel more responsibility?” Melvin asked.

“No. I felt terrible then and I came to grips with it,” Clinton responded.

The former president eventually became frustrated enough to blame the media in part, stating that they are "giving one side" and "omitting facts."

Clinton claimed the media never talked about the historical female representation on his staff, as if it somehow takes away from what he did to Lewinsky.

From dodging questions, to attacking the media, to playing victim — the interview was a living-nightmare for Clinton.
