Despite illegal immigration peaking to the highest it’s been in 21 years, President Joe Biden attributed the “greatest physical threat” to the United States to global warming.

On his first foreign trip to the United Kingdom on Wednesday, Biden spoke with American soldiers, relaying that the Joint Chiefs deemed climate change the most pressing threat.

“When I first was elected vice president with President Obama, military sat us down to let us know what the greatest threats facing America were — greatest physical threats. This is not a joke,” Biden said, as reported by the Daily Caller. “You know what the Joint Chiefs told us the greatest threat facing America was? Global warming.”

Ahead of the international G7 meeting in Cornwall, England starting Friday, Biden assured that climate change will be a focus of the summit.

“With the G7,” explained Biden, “we plan to launch an ambitious effort to support resilience and development around the world, by investing in high-quality, high-standard, physical, digital and health infrastructures.”

Biden’s focus on climate change has been consistent since the beginning of his presidency, as rejoining the Paris climate agreement was one of his first actions as president.

Biden also backed the Green New Deal, calling it a “crucial framework” on his website, signaling his commitment to tackling the “greatest physical threat.”

Former President Donald Trump responded to this diagnosis of the United States’ greatest threat, calling on Biden to fire the Joint Chiefs.

“If that is the case, and they actually said this,” Trump shared in a statement, “he ought to immediately fire the Joint Chiefs of Staff for being incompetent!”
