The Biden administration has reportedly told media outlets they can’t tour border facilities being used to house migrant minors due to the COVID-19 pandemic – a convenient line of reasoning, considering those same Obama-era facilities came under heavy fire during the Trump administration for housing children in what critics dubbed “prison” conditions.

“The Office of Refugee Resettlement (ORR) is not hosting media tours of unaccompanied children (UC) facilities currently due to the COVID-19 pandemic. If media tours resume, we will send a media advisory,” a spokesperson with Health and Human Services’ Administration for Children and Families told the Daily Caller. ACF is the departmental agency tasked with placing unaccompanied alien children with sponsors – usually family members – already living in the United States.

The update came after an ABC reporter was told by DHS that media would not be allowed to tour a newly opened facility for UACs in Carrizo Springs, Texas , which has drawn criticism from immigration advocates who say the privately-owned and operated facility isn’t held to the same standards as those that are federally owned.

Biden, who ran largely on a campaign promise to roll back border enforcement policies and largely admitting migrants claiming asylum at the border, has faced backlash already for reopening certain overflow detention facilities in both Texas and Florida to deal with the massive influx of unaccompanied migrant children –most of them teens – who’ve come across the border since his inauguration in January.

Border officials and immigration experts have also warned of an incoming wave of illegal aliens crossing the border and expecting to be allowed to stay thanks to Biden’s laxer policies and pro-amnesty promises.
