Democratic presidential candidate Robert 'Beto' O’Rourke reiterated his position on forcibly confiscating Americans’ sporting rifles including AR-15s, telling MSNBC’s Joe Scarborough Tuesday that under his presidency, failure to turn over one’s firearms would have “consequences” including a “visit by law enforcement."

"Let’s say I have an AR-15, I bought it legally five years ago. I’m a law-abiding citizen. You want to buy it back as president of the United States. I say ‘No.’ You give me other incentives, I say ‘No, I bought this legally. I’m keeping this. I live on a ranch, I need it for protection.’ What would you do then?” Scarborough asked, pointing out that there will be some if not many Americans who refuse to simply go along with O’Rourke’s plan for forced confiscation of their guns.

“In that case I think there would be a visit by law enforcement to recover that firearm and to make sure that it is purchased, bought back, so that it can not potentially be used against somebody else,” O’Rourke responded.

O’Rourke, who has also repeatedly expressed support for open borders and not prosecuting illegal aliens for intentionally violating U.S. immigration law, added that under his proposal, “there has to be consequences” for Americans who don’t surrender their guns “or else there is no respect for the law.”
