New York Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez doesn’t just want to take your hamburgers, cars, electricity and airplanes – now, she’s questioning whether you should ever have kids.
The freshman congresswoman filmed herself in her kitchen giving an impromptu dissertation on climate change and, of course, how we’re all going to die in the next….well, liberals aren’t really sure. But the end is most definitely nigh.
“There’s scientific consensus that the lives of children are going to be very difficult. And it does lead, I think, young people to have a legitimate question, you know, is it okay to still have children?” AOC asked while channeling her inner Elizabeth Warren and chopping veggies in her kitchen.
“And I mean, not only just financially, because people are graduating with $20, $30, $100,000 dollars worth of student loan debt, and they can’t even afford to have kids in the house, but also just this basic moral question, what do we do?” AOC continued.
Oh, and the stream-of-consciousness didn’t stop there.
“And even if you don’t have kids, there are still children here who are in the world, and we have a moral obligation to them, to leave a better world for them. This idea that if we just, you know, I’ve been working on this for X amount of years [sic] it’s like, not good enough. We need a universal sense of urgency. And people are trying to, like introduce watered-down proposals that are frankly going to kill us. A lack of urgency is going to kill us."
“It doesn’t matter if you agree that climate change is an important issue,” she went on. “At this point it doesn’t matter. If you believe climate change is a problem, that’s not even the issue. The issue is, how urgently you feel the need to fix it.”

Between increasing the thresholds for abortion, lamenting the negative impacts of children on world population size, questioning their future on a planet threatened by immanent destruction, and waxing about the high costs of college and healthcare, liberals sure do seem to have it out for the kids.
But here's a counterpoint: besides the joy and fulfillment they bring, along with the guaranteed continuation of the species, there’s at least one great reason for having kids…
…to teach raise them with common sense so the AOCs of the world don’t take over.
