Last weekend, two teenagers were killed during weekend shootings in Chicago. This past weekend, yet another teenager has been killed. What do those two things have in common? No one in the national media is crying for them. Not one politician currently too busy trying to subvert the judicial process knows their names. None of the outraged women “march”ing through the streets of America looking for rights they already have could see past their own privileged lives.
Camerie K. Crawford, a 17-year-old girl, was killed when three cowards pulled up, got out of the car and shot her in the “head, neck and back,” according to the Cook County medical examiner’s office. That happened Friday evening around 6:30 p.m. At 7:55 p.m., Crawford was pronounced dead.
Is this okay to anyone? No one seems to care about these teenagers - or any of the other people shot for that matter. David Hogg isn’t “march”ing for their lives.
Crawford was among the three human beings who were shot dead this past weekend, along with 13 others who were wounded but, so far, have survived.
This weekend’s activities brings the total for 2020 weekend shootings in Chicago to nine people dead with another 36 wounded. The Chicago Tribune’s running tally for all shootings, as of January 13th, has the city four victims ahead of last year’s pace with 59 people being shot.
Where’s Al Sharpton with his outrage? Where’s Barack Obama? Rachel Maddow? Chris Cuomo? Colin Kaepernick? Robert De Niro? No? No one? Shocker.
I’m going to do something new this week that I haven’t done in the past, but probably should’ve.

Maybe if people are confronted with the names, they’ll begin to care. Probably not, but one can hope.
Activists and anti-Second Amendment zealots, like Virginia Gov. Ralph “Blackface” Northam, can go after people who legally and safely own firearms all they want. That will do absolutely nothing to curb the violence that we see in places like Chicago every single day. Illegal firearms won’t really be affected, so they can talk about how they just want to save lives to their hearts content. But in reality, all they care about is control over the people who put them in the places they look down on everyone from.
